Where the wet and wild Power Surge ride formerly sat, the Wonder Woman-themed Golden Lasso Coaster is slated for construction at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, in San Antonio, here in the Texas Hill Country. Making the announcement on Thursday, August 3, the park identified that construction plans will commence, with an anticipated opening date for the ride in March of 2018.

Excited for the new ride announcement, Jeffrey Siebert, park president, identified in an interview with My San Antonio, “There’s no doubt that by far Wonder Woman is the most popular female superhero that’s ever been created. It’s great that after all these years she now has her own coaster along with her friends Batman and Superman.”

The Golden Lasso will open just in time for the 2018 summer tourism season at the park and feature a 90-degree drop, a 180-degree stall, two airtime hills, a zero-gravity roll and over-banked turns. It will also boast three eight-person cars on a lone 15-inch-wide track, according to Siebert, a design which is intended to give the sensation of riding on Wonder Woman’s weapon – the golden lasso!

Shared on the Theme Park Point of Views YouTube channel, this official HD POV (point of view) video shows the concept of the new ride coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas next year. Coming on the heels of the popular movie “Wonder Woman,” according to Siebert, the park’s determination to build this ride wasn’t hinged on the movie’s success. The new attraction is the latest in a line of innovative capital investments which have been made at the Texas Hill Country theme park, which added the Batman: The Ride roller coaster back in 2015, and the Thunder Rapids water coaster earlier in 2017.
