‘Wonderful Christmastime’: Jimmy Fallon, The Roots & Stars from ‘Sing’

By  |

After a number of great collaborations, it’s hard to imagine Jimmy Fallon and The Roots pairing with anyone that would compare to some of their major singing highlights, but with this video, they pulled out a winner. Despite everyone’s hectic holiday schedules, Fallon managed to pull the team together for a rendition of “Wonderful Christmastime” that went viral (of course) over this holiday season.

Produced in a simple and effective color block method, including the stars from the movie “Sing,” the video features a version of the song done a capella, including the many faces and voices of the stars from the movie, such as Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, and Matthew McConaughey. It’s Christmassy and cheerful, and well worth the watch.

Fallon often features song versions done with The Roots and a prior Christmas delivery that went viral from the same collaboration was when Mariah Carey sat in with the group in the 2015 season of The Late Show. Performing her song, “All I Want for Christmas,” both performances became head-turners, toe-tappers, and add to the audience’s holiday feeling.
