Okay, folks, not everything in Texas is named after the state flower, the bluebonnet. In fact, you might be surprised to discover that the Blue Bonnet Cafe is named after a bonnet. Yep, that’s right, a blue bonnet. The kind a lady wears on her pretty curls.

This year, the iconic Blue Bonnet Cafe celebrated their 90th year serving up tasty goodness in the Texas Hill Country. Since 1929, this beloved cafe has accumulated fans across the world. The cafe is located in Marble Falls, Texas, but their reputation is as far-flung as Antarctica.  The awards for this little cafe are numerous.  Best breakfast, best restaurant, best service, best dessert, best chicken-fried steak—and the list of honors goes on, but you get the idea. The Blue Bonnet is claimed the best by many.

The restaurant is consistent with their recipes and personnel. Some of their employees have been with the eatery for 25 years.  This group is Texas-friendly and know how to treat guests in Texas style. They’re accustomed to celebrities, and you might see one or two in there as you enjoy the food and atmosphere. The Blue Bonnet has hosted famous political personalities such as President George W. Bush. They’re not surprised, either, to see music celebrities like Willie Nelson. All patrons are treated with careful attention.

The current owners, John and Belinda Kemper, were customers first and now owners. One morning after a hearty breakfast, John was asked if he’d entertain the idea of buying the Blue Bonnet. Well, he and his wife fell in love with the idea and bought it!  Belinda makes the delicious, famous pies. She is also the author of the Blue Bonnet Cafe cookbook.
