Dick’s Classic Garage car museum in the Texas Hill Country has recently closed, and now close to $1 million worth of classic vehicles and vintage car paraphernalia is headed to auction on Saturday, January 12. Those interested in viewing items prior to the sale can do so on Friday, January 11 between 12 and 6 p.m., as well as Saturday, January 12 between 8 and 10 a.m. In conjunction with the live auction, an internet sale will run simultaneously. However, visitors are encouraged to physically come to the site and view the items. The worth of this collection from the San Marcos museum is rare to see in a single auction. And this is only a portion of it. According to the auction house, the main car collection, estimated at approximately $10 million in value, will be sold at a later time.

The list of auction items, noted as being “in mint condition” by Burley Auctions owner Robb Burley, includes over a dozen classic cars and trucks in addition to 400 other items which are described as “museum-quality stuff.” Burley Auctions will be hosting the event. The collection is estimated to be worth between $500K and $1 million. “They’ve got super rare everything,” he noted. The collection includes such things as a “1949 Oldsmobile 88 Deluxe Club Coupe, 1962 Austin Healy 3000, 1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria, 1941 Chevrolet convertible,” and much more.

The new year closure of Dick’s Classic Garage was announced on its Facebook page on Wednesday, January 2. “All of us here at Dick’s Classic Garage would like to thank everyone who has visited and supported the museum over the last 9 and a half years,” the post read. “We have been very fortunate to be able to share Dick’s passion and collection with the community… and are extremely grateful to all.” Proceeds from the auction will go to the Richard L. Burdick Foundation – a non-profit designed for the purpose of charity. The sale will take place at the site of the Dick’s Classic Garage (120 Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos), starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
