Recently, three declassified videos were released by the Pentagon showing “unexplained aerial phenomena.” The clips include footage of a close encounter with a rotund object suspended above the Pacific Ocean, as well as other objects gliding through the air with one actually spinning. The videos were leaked to the public first in 2007, then again in 2017. The US Department of Defense noted its desire to “clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real.” Texas has its own hot spots with documented close encounter activity, which is often unexplainable. One site is Enchanted Rock, near Fredericksburg. What do you think of this close encounter in Texas?

Enchanted Rock has long been considered mystical by local Native Americans and early Spanish settlers. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that others are interested in visiting the site. Below is an account written on Reddit about a San Antonio college student’s sighting at Enchanted Rock in 2010. After a full day of hiking with friend Jenn, they decided to camp out to the west of the rock, roughly 2.5 miles away from their car. Here is the story.

While Jenn settled into sleep around 8:30 p.m., the author stayed out to stargaze. Then they noticed a highly luminous dot right above the west/southwest horizon, which appeared to flutter or bounce around, while staying in the same region. Although today not sure why, the author shone a flashlight toward the dot. While moving the flashlight to mimic the movement of the dot, it began to move around in the sky more so. The author continued for a bit, waking Jenn to witness the event, then ceasing the flashlight signaling, to which the dot sank below the horizon and did not immediately return.

A few hours passed, then a light crept up from the east side of Enchanted Rock. First thought to be the moon due to its brightness, the light was revealed to be hexagon-shaped once atop the granite. The edges of the light were lit up, while the center was darkened. Then, the hexagonal light split into six separate light bars. The six different lights then moved independently over Enchanted Rock, scaling hundreds of feet of rock within seconds. Nearby foliage was also illuminated as the lights moved. Becoming nervous around midnight, the campers went inside their tent; while there, they began to hear sounds in the surrounding woods. It was motor-like, which is considered odd as motor vehicles are not allowed in the area. Although the author has considered the possibility of other campers and hikers walking by, the next experience really cemented the close encounter experience.

Around 3:30 a.m., the author awoke, opening their eyes to see a light through the tent. Peeking outside the tent revealed a hovering disk, roughly 500 feet above Enchanted Rock, making almost no sound but a light hum. It was about 150-200 feet long, and its outside featured 12 circular lights around the edge, spinning counterclockwise. The speed varied, from so quickly the outer lights became a solid white line, to slowly enough to count the lights.

According to the author, the movement of the disk was the most incredible part: tilting, whirling, and bouncing, while staying in the same area. Best identified as “erratic, but controlled.” After watching for a few moments, the author woke his friend Jenn, who proposed leaving before the author reminded her that they would have to gather up all their gear and hike 2.5 miles back to their car, which included walking directly under the disk. Instead, they stayed in the tent and viewed the disk for over three hours, during which it maintained its spot directly above Enchanted Rock. Once the sunrise began, the disk bounced higher in the sky and was gone in about 15-20 minutes.

What do you think of this story? Have you experienced anything out of this world at Enchanted Rock or other Texas sites?
