According to a story by KYTX CBS 19, East Texas native Micah Lyons, a Hollywood director and producer, is presently in the process of scheduling filming for his second movie which is set in the Piney Woods. Entitled “No Man’s Land,” the film is from the western genre and set in the 1800s. The film is presently in pre-production and filming is planned for March.
Scheduled for filming in 15 various locations throughout Jefferson, Hallsville, Marshall, and Blanco, Lyons, who is president of Breath of Life Productions, has described the movie as a mix between “Indiana Jones” and “Magnificent 7.” Believing that East Texas is the perfect region for the film’s setting, Lyons also has his eye on talent from the area as well. “East Texas is rich with talent, so we’re going to be casting over 100 people from East Texas in the movie.” he explained.

In conjunction with filming “No Man’s Land,” Breath of Life Productions is also anticipating the establishment of a studio in Marshall. The company has recently placed a bid on the old Marshall Junior High as a potential location, which also has sentimental value to its president. “My mom actually went to high school there and then it became the junior high.” he identified. Sentimentality aside, a studio in the area would not only be great for local talent but also provide a shot in the arm to the local economy. Lyons explained, “We believe that our plan (for the studio) is going to really win Marshall over and create hundreds of jobs and lots of educational opportunities… there are caterers, there are accountants, there are attorneys and security, and truck drivers, and carpenters. There’s all kinds of jobs that we are going to need to fill that are not actors and not crew related.”

Having recently written, directed, and co-produced an action film in North Texas entitled “The Runners,” Lyons is seeking to stretch his film industry muscles and expand his resume, taking on a test budget for his current film project through the same distributor. In the process, he has established a GoFundMe campaign for the purpose of crowdsourcing the ability to finance “No Man’s Land,” effectively producing a high-quality product on time and well within budget. Successfully doing so could mean securing additional film projects and the expansion of Breath of Life Productions. The company will be holding an open casting call for “No Man’s Land” for which dates and times will be posted at the link provided here. Lyons has big plans for his East Texas locations, including bringing a number of movies to the area for filming. In the meantime, an upcoming movie which is slated for later in 2018 will have sci-fi fans seeing sets in the Lone Star State as well, a genre that will definitely bring something new…dare we say, a breath of life…to the area.
