Parents and grandparents everywhere are going to say a collective, “Awww,” when the little person in their life plays with the latest Barbie accoutrements. The Mattel doll has gone from California dreaming to her own Barbie world, complete with pink everything. But up until most recently, she didn’t have her own farm. That’s right, Barbie has now gone agricultural. Introducing: Farmer Barbie.

Youngsters growing up with the doll had such accessories to wish for like a car, a dream house, and even a horse (Remember Western Barbie?). Now, under the “Career Dolls” Barbie line, she has worked in a huge line of professions such as chef, musician, paleontologist, astronaut, and robotics engineer, to name a few. Farmer Barbie is a great addition to the line which allows kids playing with these iconic toys to imagine the possibilities for their own future in a role-modeling fashion of play.

The Farmer Barbie release by Mattel is clothed in overalls and boots and can be accessorized with her own tractor (similar to a Case or even an Allis-Chalmers, for those of you who are more tractor enthusiasts than Barbie fans) and wagon, a small brown calf, chickens and chicks, and a little wee lamb! This popular fashion doll that first came out in 1959 has since made major moves in the career department over the years, and it shows. The subject of scrutiny as well as controversy (owing to the image which some felt the doll impressed upon youngsters), Barbie has been an inspiration to little ones the world over for decades. The fact that she’s now coming with all the accessories that your average farmer would start out with is a testament to her parent company’s efforts to broaden the doll’s horizons as well as those of the little ones that play with her. (And can you imagine if Tractor Supply Company partnered with Mattel?! We’d have a Barbie dream barn, ranch house, a combine, a baler, a harvester, and even a full herd of Texas Longhorns!) If you’re looking for Farmer Barbie and all of her trappings, she’s available at major retail toy outlets, or online at Target and Amazon, for starters.
