The World Series Champions, the Houston Astros, celebrated with an epic parade through the streets of downtown Houston on Friday, November 3, 2017. A sea of orange jerseys could be seen for blocks as fans eagerly awaited the start of the show honoring their hometown heroes. A record-breaking attendance that ranged in the ballpark of around 1 million fans filled the streets. “Mayor Sylvester Turner dubbed the event the largest parade in Houston history,” shared abc13.com.

Fans lined up in the early hours of the morning to grab a good spot along the parade route to catch a glimpse of their favorite players. Four military jets flew overhead as the crowd erupted in a roar for the start of the parade. Orange and blue confetti blew among the pennants and banners being held throughout the parade as it began. Many school districts closed to allow students and teachers to attend. Many skipped work so as not to miss this historic event to add to their movie screen of memories as shown through this reporters perspective in the video below.

“Fans stood more than 10 rows deep, with chants of “Let’s go Astros” echoing off skyscrapers, while some claimed bird’s-eye views from the upper floors of parking structures, waving banners and signs,” shared ABC News.

It was a parade fit for a king complete with an appearance from the Budweiser Clydesdales, followed by the sounds of Texas Southern University’s “Ocean of Soul” Marching Band and the University of Houston’s  “The Spirit of Houston” Marching Band to get the crowd jumping.

The World Series Championship is a first in the Astros franchise History, making this a parade for the ages as the players arrived in style atop fire station trucks from various stations around the city. They happily waved and smiled at generations of Houstonians young and old excited to cheer on their hometown heroes. “I want to thank every person here, every person in the city, every person in the state of Texas that believed in our team,” Springer said at a brief rally in front of City Hall following the parade. “It’s about time we brought home something for the great city of Houston.” shared ABC News.

It was a parade beaming with pride and heartfelt joy for its champions! Not only did they win a World Series but their town cheered them on through the highs and lows of each game as if they were right in the dugout with them. It showed the world that this wasn’t just a win for the players, but a win for a city united after such devastation, showcasing their resilience and what being “Houston Strong” means – showing how they definitely know how to #EarnHistory.
