The film adaptation of “The Dark Tower” novels by Stephen King had been rumored for more than 10 years now, and in 2015, the film went into production with Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel at the wheel. Starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey as Roland Deschain and Walter O’Dim, respectively, the Last Gunslinger and the Man in Black (as their characters are known as,) enter into an epic battle with the fate of the world caught in the crux between good and evil.

With charismatic stars such as Texas son McConaughey and British-born Elba, not to mention the wildly successful series written by King, this movie should perform to great expectations. Released in theaters on August 4, the stars perform well with the dialogue and a plot which would be almost impossible to understand if you haven’t read the books.

Shared on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s YouTube channel, the official trailer for “The Dark Tower” shows inspiring cinematography, and shining moments of excellence by the movie’s cast. With expertly choreographed action, the script takes the viewer through eight Stephen King books from which the film was gleaned, commanding highly professional performances from not only its lead stars but also its breakout roles. As a precursor to another 2017 King adaptation with the remaking of “It” in film form, this movie is a must-see for fans of the actors as well as avid King readers.
