St. Mary’s Oktoberfest welcomes everyone in the community out to this event. While you will pay nothing to get in, bring some cash with you. You will want to have it on hand for shopping, purchasing raffle tickets, and bidding on the silent auction. For just $5, purchase a raffle ticket for your chance to win prizes worth up to thousands of dollars in gift cards. Proceeds from the raffle and other activities will benefit area charities.

This event will keep you entertained, whether you are young, old, or just young-at-heart. Cheer on the contestants at the pie-eating contest. Participate in the washer tournament. Or try your hand at the dunking booth. Check out the zip line if you want something more thrilling. You’ll love the car show if you have any interest in automobiles. And you will not have a shortage of places to shop at with a bake sale, country store, and silent auction. Should you tire of the events, visit the food tent where the University of Texas versus Oklahoma University game will air.

Fun and Games for Kids

If you have kids, be sure to bring them along to the festival. This year, kids will get to enjoy new games and activities. Have your little ones ride on the miniature train. They can also encounter farm animals at the petting zoo. Pint-sized games just for kids give your little ones a chance to play while at the festival. Face painters and a pumpkin patch give your kids something to keep as a reminder of the festival.

Food and Drink

Of course, the best part of Oktoberfest is the food. You will find beer, bratwurst, and giant pretzels if you want German food. For those with less adventurous palates, the festival will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, and brisket sandwiches. While these foods are served in the food tent, don’t miss the tasty treats in the Parish Activity Center, where you can purchase frozen casseroles and baked goods. If you buy a casserole, the volunteers will keep it stored until the end of the festival.

Not only does St. Mary’s Oktoberfest provide the community with a fun afternoon but it also helps area causes. St. Mary’s Catholic Church’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, and Women’s Guild will all benefit from the proceeds of the bake sale, auction, and raffle tickets. These groups work to better the local community by helping youth with scholarships and activities, supporting seminarians, and helping the disadvantaged. Other groups that will benefit from the proceeds include local emergency responders, Annunciation House, and Lago Vista volunteers. When you buy a raffle ticket or bid at the auction, you’re helping youth and charitable organizations in the Lago Vista area. What better motivation could you have?
