Although it doesn’t always snow in the Lone Star state, and plenty of times cousin Bobby has made the kids cry at Christmas dinner, that’s certainly no reason holidays in Texas can’t be fixed and your family can’t have the crème de la crème of Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. So, here are some amazing ways that you can become the “MacGyver” of the Texas holiday season and save it all for the ones you love!

1. Visit Wimberley

Facebook/Jillian Kay Drawdy Wimberley, in the Texas Hill Country, knows how to do up the holidays with a big bow! Their town’s event calendar has the Winter’s Eve Christmas Festival scheduled for December 9, together with their 20th annual Trail of Lights (throughout the month of December). They also hold a Blue Christmas at Blue Hole Regional Park, featuring thousands of little blue lights, along with a local choir and Santa Claus himself!

2. Check Out Galveston

Throughout the holiday season, Galveston Island does Christmas up right with several must-see attractions. These include the Santa Hustle Galveston 5K and Half Marathon, the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens, and the annual ‘Dickens on The Strand’ festival. This last event sees the port city decked out in 19th-century London garb and welcoming one and all to celebrate the holidays in grand style on the Strand.

3. Stop in Grand Prairie

A visit to the Grand Prairie Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony will definitely fix up any glitches in your family holiday spirit! They also hold a Traders Village Holiday Market and a Christmas Candlelight memorial service. The biggest attraction here, by far, has to be Grand Prairie’s amazing holiday light display where visitors can cruise through two miles of thousands of lights on display, including a holiday village, a walk-through forest, and an indoor laser show.
