Reports indicate that the Texas jobless rate has made an improvement for seven months in a row now, with November statistics identifying that unemployment in the Lone Star State had slipped to a record 3.8 percentage points.

On Friday, December 22, the Texas Workforce Commission reported that this figure was the lowest monthly unemployment rate that Texas has seen in four decades. There were no immediate details defining the statistic given by officials. However, this same rate for the month of October was 3.9 percent, indicating a small, but noticeable improvement.

“Today’s announcement of our record low unemployment rate is further proof that the Texas model of low taxes and reasonable regulations is working better than ever,” explained Governor Greg Abbott. “This record of 3.8 percent is also a testament to our diverse and talented workforce that is attracting new businesses to the state every day and driving our booming economy. Economic prosperity is not an accident. I will continue to implement policies that grow our economy by improving education, cutting taxes and regulations to create even more jobs and increasing workforce participation as we broaden the path to opportunity for all Texans.”

The U.S. unemployment rate for the month of November held steady at 4.1 percent, and in comparison, officials have stated that Amarillo and Midland had the lowest November 2017 unemployment rates in Texas, coming in at 2.6 percent. With respect to the highest rate, the Beaumont-Port Arthur area came in at a 6.5 unemployment percentage. Additionally, commission experts have said that the Texas economy added 54,500 seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment positions in the month November.
