The city of Houston features some of Texas’s most family-oriented attractions. Home to the Space Center (where the kids can meet an astronaut, visit Mission Control, and see real space gear), Houston is also the setting for the Downtown Aquarium which doubles as an amusement park. There’s also the opportunity to visit The Houston Museum of Natural Science, which includes a butterfly center located within a simulated rain forest (a must-see for everyone).

2. Marfa

Visiting West Texas is an adventure in itself, but Marfa holds the key to a great family vacation. A Big Bend National Park adventure alone can include horseback riding, hiking, bird watching, rafting, and camping. In the evenings, you’ll want to keep a lookout for the infamous Marfa lights. And, if camping isn’t your cup of tea, Marfa is home to some fantastic boutique hotel rooms which are also quite luxurious!

3. Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Zoo is also a highlight of the city as well as the state, home to 7,000 animals and a lot of family fun. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is also a great all-ages stop that boasts a planetarium, an IMAX dome, and a number of great exhibits.

The Alamo is a wonderful place for families to explore and learn about Texas history. And, San Antonio is also home to several unique attractions including the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch and the chance to see 360-degree views of the city while you dine at 750 feet in the Tower of the Americas!
