A time-honored tradition, the Texas two-step is a simple and engaging dance that many can easily learn, and love to do on a Friday or Saturday night with their sweethearts. Leading up to this Valentine’s Day, consider heading to a Texas Hill Country hideout to spin your lover around a dance floor for an experience that won’t soon be forgotten. Regardless of being a newcomer (to both dancing or the Texas Hill Country) the dance floor awaits, and so does a darn good time!

1. Luckenbach, Texas

Luckenbach has been the scene for a lot of two-stepping, and for a tiny Texas Hill Country town, it has a legendary dance hall. Jerry Jeff Walker recorded his album “¡Viva Terlingua!” there in 1973, and four years later, it received national focus thanks to Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings’ song “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love).” Some of Texas’ top musicians still play there, and you can enjoy them with your love while you two-step the night away.

John T. Floore’s Country Store in Helotes is a great place to cut a rug. It has seen such country music greats as Hank Williams Sr. and Patsy Cline grace its stage and the dance hall still continues that tradition by playing host to many of today’s top artists.

3. Broken Spoke

The Broken Spoke is a living legend in Texas Hill Country dance halls. For several decades now, its popularity has attracted such country icons as Dale Watson and the great Bob Wills. Plenty a couple have shuffled their way around the dance floor there, and you and your love can as well, enjoying your Texas Hill Country Valentine’s Day in pure Texas style.
