TEXAS WRITERS WANTED:
If you’re interested, send us links to two writing samples and a complete pitch 300-500 words in length, and we’ll get started. We require all of our writers to know or be willing to learn WordPress. Also, let us know what you would want out of it: notoriety, recognition, commission on sales, the ability to sell your product or service, compensation per article, or whatever you have in mind.
How to start…
Please send links to two writing samples, your complete pitch, what you want out of writing for us, a short bio or resume, and your contact information to our Managing Editor:
Shannon Salas
We want to invite all Texas bloggers to join us in promoting the Texas Hill Country and other parts of Texas to the rest of the world. We want to tell the world about all of Texas… especially about the Texas Hill Country and everything that we love.
Would you like to work with us in sharing information about the “Heart of Texas?” We are offering special placement of your articles on TexasHillCountry.com, plus many more websites to come, like TexasBigBend.org, TexasGulfCoast.org, and all the regions around Texas. We will also be focusing on many of the individual cities within the Hill Country and offer placement on those sites as well, like BanderaTexas.org, WimberleyTexas.org, MasonTexas.org, and all the Central Texas cities, plus attractions, events, activities, and other subject matter for our great state.
Currently, we are offering promotion of your articles on our TexasHillCountry.com website, and then many other websites as we develop them. We will publish these blog articles on our site initially, but eventually, we do allow bloggers that produce quality material a chance to log in behind the scenes and have hands-on experience working for our website.
Social media promotion…
We will also be promoting these articles on some of our huge Facebook pages, like Facebook/TexasHillCountry, which automatically feed to our Twitter account. This offers our writers a much larger and broader audience and following than they could possibly achieve on their own.
Our Texas Hill Country Facebook page alone is growing by an average of 1,000 new fans a day, has a reach of between 20 and 55 million fans per week, and regular engagement of 5 million people per day. So, we can get traffic to your articles, and you can keep them coming back for more!
Compensation…
Some of you blog, write or promote as a hobby, fun desire, or even sense of duty to promote your town, area, or things that you love. But we will try and reward those that blog for us in more ways than just recognition. There will be an opportunity for you to be compensated for your individual articles as well. Our editor will discuss this with you further if your pitch is accepted.
What we’re looking for…
Personal interest and expertise are usually best, but mostly, we’re looking for interesting stories about things to do, places to go, places to eat, drink and have fun. Places to live, retire, work and vacation. Stories, history, facts and nostalgia about towns, people and more will allow others to enjoy what we know and love. You could be a representative of a town or area or even a specific subject matter.
Lists usually work great, especially if you can include a lot of pictures. You can get your own pictures or utilize those from our Facebook pages, but short captions and basic information with beautiful pictures seem to work best and get lots of traffic.
If you’re unsure of how to blog or how it differs from other forms of writing, check out some of the articles we’re already promoting on our website. We usually keep them short and simple, under 750 words and casually written to tell the story or provide the information about Texas and the things that make it great.
What to write about…
We want you to be creative and come up with a variety of subjects and ideas, but here are a few topic ideas. You can also look through some of our website articles or topic tabs to see what else you can write about and how we like it to look:
