Frontier Airlines Announces More Nonstop Flights Out of Austin
Airlines are taking notice that Austin needs more direct flights from in and out of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Recently, Delta Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle said they would be adding direct flights from Europe to Austin during the South by Southwest festival in 2018. Now, Frontier Airlines says they’re adding eight more cites to their list of direct flights from the live music capital. KXAN says the new additions (which will take run more than only around SXSW) include “Charlotte, Cincinnati, Columbus, New Orleans, Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, Ontario (California) and San Jose.”
Airport spokesperson Derick Hackett told KXAN that Austin’s relatively small airport will need to expand to adjust to the increased air traffic. “You’re going to start seeing buildings grow… the additions of the terminal, the additions to the gas station, and to the convenient store, and [Austin-Bergstrom International Airport] retail,” he stated.
Frontier Airlines is known as a low cost airline with the slogan “Low Fares Done Right.” Some customers sing their praises for having cheap flights and no frills, while others dislike the small seating and customer service. According to several reviewers on TripAdvisor, it seems they’re the airline of choice for people who are taking short flights and don’t want any extras like food or drink on board.
