“The Polar Express,” by Chris Van Allsburg, is a Christmas favorite that kids and parents alike can enjoy. Not only can you read about it, but the Texas State Railroad has now created a Polar Express experience from Palestine, TX to their version of the North Pole, where your child can meet Santa and his helper elves!

The trip includes a welcoming aboard by the train conductor who punches your magical ticket. Then cookies and hot chocolate are served to the kids by dancing waiters, just the way it was in the movie version!

A keepsake hot chocolate mug to commemorate the trip is also available with “Lone Star” and “Diamond” tickets, and on the ride, “The Polar Express” story is read out loud to all using actor Liam Neeson’s narration voiceover.

Upon arrival at the Texas State Railroad’s version of the North Pole, Santa and the elves greet the kids with a bell that’s cut from Santa’s sleigh. Similar to the story, however, only true believers can hear the bells’ beautiful sounds.

Passengers can leave the train to have photo opportunities with the elves and take a stroll around “the North Pole”! There are also Christmas items available for sale at the depot gift shop. You can purchase tickets for this magical Polar Express trip at the Texas State Railroad website.
