You may not find any signs of Nemo swimming around but this little country town in Somervell County has inspired movie crews to film among its historic surrounding and landmarks in the past. The film “Black Totem” recently shot some scenes in this quaint small town as they cited the photo above in Nemo, Texas.
This historic town with an interesting backstory of how it was named is sure to be a hit with the family as you travel on through to your next adventure.
Originally named Johnson after one of the first settlers in the area, the postal authorities suggested a shorter name be used. “When residents met to choose a name, the story goes, one man stood up and argued for the name Nemo, which he said was Latin for no one,” shared tshaonline.org. Citing that if Johnson wasn’t good enough “then no one’s was.”

Named after the beloved character we grew up with, Tarzan, this Texas town is often found on lists of “unusual place names,” shares Wikipedia. Who wouldn’t like to make a pit stop, and take a walk on the wild side through this charming town?
