San Antonio’s KSAT proudly announces that the River Walk ranked the highest on USA Today’s newest 10Best list of the greatest tourist attractions in the Lone Star State. Chosen by readers and editors, the list includes another San Antonio spot, the Alamo Mission, despite its previous appearance on a list from Business Insider that called it the “worst tourist trap in the state.”

Taking the top spot, the River Walk won due to its stature as “the most popular tourist attraction in Texas.” USA Today tells readers to check out another mission along the three mile walk, Mission San Jose. The location accurately shows how the old missions would have looked long ago, with communities surrounding a church.

Of course, other major Texas cities rank on the top 10 list, as well. For a lovely stroll, visit the number two spot, the Padre Island National Seashore. To feel the small Texas town vibe, number three on the list is a perfect tourist destination – Gruene Hall in New Brausfels.

USA Today’s 10Best list compiles rather diverse destinations with natural wonders (Palo Duro Canyon State Park), truly Texas sights (Fort Worth Stockyards), and sophisticated museums (the Kimball). It seems to really capture the varied beauty and interests within the Lone Star State.
