The bidding began on January 28th on eBay at $11.99 for a “RARE  – One of a Kind Cheeto” that resembled a gorilla (possibly Harambe) climbing a tree. As KSAT explains, zoo officials shot Harambe the gorilla, after a child fell into his enclosure. Since then, the gorilla has become a major internet celebrity as “fodder for internet jokes.” But no one saw this unusual eBay listing reaching 132 bids and selling for $99.9K when it ended on February 7th.

The seller and the buyer have a history of buying and selling via eBay, but for the sake of everyone’s sanity, we’re hoping that they were friends having fun for our enjoyment. Regardless of the reasoning behind the bidding war that reached a dizzying price, other people are trying to cash in on the laughs of the Harambe craze as well.

Several similar “gorilla-like” Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in different positions are up for sale, and photos and screen grabs of the original rare Cheeto have also popped up for bidding. The original post has inspired a lot of people to take a closer look at their Cheetos. If you happen to find a sculptural cheese puff, you should try your luck at selling it on eBay.
