It’s common knowledge that summer in Texas is just awful. It is without a doubt the most horrible time of year, and the worst place in all of Texas to spend summer is the Hill Country.
There’s no relief from the heat, there’s nothing to do (except complain), and it’s just all around a terrible place to spend time during the hottest months of the year in one of the hottest states in the country. If you don’t believe me, read on to see why.

See all those Mexican free-tailed bats in Austin? Just look at all those people running away in terror!
14. The light pollution at night is blinding
13. There’s nowhere to cool off.
12. It’s too hot to eat outside
11. You’ll probably die of dehydration.

All the college students go home for the summer so there’s never anything going on. Shorter lines at the bars and more parking spots just can’t make up for the lack of drunken frat boys puking on the street corners.

Don’t expect to while away the summer nights by dancing with a cutie in cutoffs, because there is absolutely no good music anywhere during the summer.
8. Don’t expect any spectacular fireworks
7. Don’t even think about finding good outdoor shopping
6. The landscape is nothing but dry and dusty dirt
5. There’s no good place to have fun when it’s hot
4. There’s not even a good place to catch a baseball game
3. The Hill Country is SO far from the coast
2. Seriously though, where’s the beach?

How do you have summer with no beach? Where do people swim?!
