Places to Stay
6 Amazing Places to Stay Overnight in Wimberley
The Little House, situated 100 yards from Casita Grande, sleeps up to 5 people. The living area also has a fireplace and cozy kitchen. But you’ll want to spend your time on the covered porch with grill and soaking beneath the stars in the private hot tub. Both homes offer hi-speed internet and satellite TV.
Spend the day wading, swimming, and fishing in the Blanco River. Bring your binoculars and park yourself on the porch for bird and wildlife watching. Pour yourself a glass of wine and start working on the novel you’ve always meant to write. Grill steaks and play dominoes with your friends or family and then hit the hot tub before tucking yourself in at night.

Maybe you’re more of an in-town person. You can’t get much more in-town than staying in the middle of Wimberley town square. This sweet little inn offers five hotel rooms and a suite, each decorated with antiques and custom furnishings. The Lauren offers a private courtyard entrance, while the Chandler is actually a suite of rooms that can sleep up to six. Don’t forget hot breakfast in the morning before you go.
Wrap your arms around all Wimberley has to offer. Shop for local goodies, then drop by a wine bar (or two). Stroll along the banks of Cypress Creek and take in some fresh air. Try the Cypress Creek Café for dinner, and then hit the Buzzard Bar for music. Finally, head on back to home base at the inn, and plan a foray into the wine country or a zip-lining adventure for the following day.

If you want to be good to your environment and stay in comfort too, then the Sage Hill Inn might just be the place for you. You’ll find General Manager Justin Raiford buzzing around the inn heading up projects like converting the laundry’s grey water to water suitable for hydrating the expanded gardens he’s putting on the place. Or he might be directing the addition of bee hives and peach, plum, and apple trees to the grounds. He’s also building a coop in anticipation of the arrival of beaked permanent residents whose job it will be to provide guests with farm fresh eggs.
And he knows a thing or two about preparing food also. Raiford spent several years as part of Sandra Bullock’s team managing operations at Bess Bistro and Walton’s Fancy and Staple in Austin. He’s responsible for elevating sous chef Amanda Wallace, a culinary whiz in her own right, to executive chef at the Sage. She’s looking forward to bringing her northern traditions of cooking (Wallace is from Ohio) and mixing that with the inn’s organic produce to bring guests food that is not only “beautiful but respected and unpretentious too.”
The rooms at Sage Inn Hill are homey and light. Whether you choose a room with a private deck overlooking the 2000-acre Austin Open Space or private outdoor fire pit, your room will quickly become a sanctuary for relaxation. Faux down beds and toasty fireplaces will beckon you each night laying the groundwork for peaceful dreaming. Cottages and suites are available too for larger parties. Other amenities include satellite TV, and free wi-fi. Try to stop yourself from stuffing your pockets full of the unlimited supply of homemade cookies.
Make time to visit the spa with a range of services including traditional massages and facials to relaxation methods using essentials oils and hot stones.
