2 Hill Country Cities Named in ‘Best Cities for Jobs’ List
Every year, employment publisher Glassdoor names their 25 Best Cities for Jobs, and two Hill Country cities recently made the Top 20.
While both Austin and San Antonio are beloved Hill Country cities, it’s nice to see national recognition follow, too. In Glassdoor‘s 25 Best Cities for Jobs list, Austin ranked No. 6 overall, and San Antonio ranked No. 20. What about Dallas or Houston? Sorry, y’all didn’t make the list.
So how is this ranking calculated? Well, as Glassdoor states, these cities were chosen and numbered based on “how easy it is to get a job (hiring opportunity), how affordable it is to live there (cost of living), and how satisfied employees are working there (job satisfaction and work-life balance).” These categories make sense to us, although San Antonio should probably rank in the Top 10, though that’s our humble opinion.
It’s comforting to know that the Hill Country is thriving economically these days, which makes it easier for our own homegrown workforce to stick around because finding a job is relatively easy in these two metropolitan areas.
Austin received a 3.3 work-life balance rating overall and a 3.4 job satisfaction rating, while San Antonio received a 3.1 work-life balance rating, and a 3.3 job satisfaction rating.
