Retired Texas Couple Wins Lottery Out of State
Retired Texas couple Joseph and Anetia Roseman won $1 million in the lottery, but it wasn’t in Texas!
On a trip to visit friends in North Carolina in late June, the Rosemans found themselves at a convenience store picking up a $1 Quick Pick ticket for the Mega Millions drawing taking place later that day.
Joseph didn’t check on the winning numbers until the following morning. Once he did, he casually asked his wife, who was blow-drying her hair, what she thought the prize money would be for five matches.
She knew the answer was $1 million, but she couldn’t believe that they would be going back to Texas with that large amount of prize money from a lottery ticket bought on a trip! The pair had to go to Raleigh to claim their newly awarded dough before they headed home.
ABC 13 reports that, “It finally got real when they got their after-tax winnings of $692,502. The couple split the money, each receiving $346,251.”
Only three other people won the $1 million prize in the drawing. The Mega Millions Jackpot prize is now up to $449 million with a $313 million cash option. Let’s cross our fingers that the Rosemans brought some luck back from North Carolina with them!
