Fourth of July Baby Born In Grandfather’s Car Right Outside ER
ABC 13 really hit the nail on the head when they reported that a baby born in a car out in front of the ER at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital had “declared her independence on her own terms.”
The news station was already on location at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital recording for another story. When they heard about what took place right outside of the Emergency Room, they rushed over to record the baby’s grandfather’s fresh reaction.
Randy Lazard’s daughter is the woman who had just given birth to a baby girl on the 4th of July in his car. When she went into labor, he was more than ready to rush her to the hospital, but things didn’t quite go as planned.
Lazard told ABC 13 that, “I had made it all the way here. By time I got here, I ran up to get somebody to get her a wheelchair. When they tried to get the wheelchair, she had the baby in the car!”
Randy Lazard’s contagious excitement and love for his daughter is immediately evident in his reaction and smile. It seems like this baby wanted to make a unique entrance into the world and an exciting holiday for the Lazards.
