State Fair of Texas Narrows it Down to 8 Finalists for Big Tex Choice Awards

If you can dream up a tasty treat, it’s almost 100% guaranteed that a Texan has tried to deep fry it. We know that deep fried foods aren’t good for us, but at the State Fair of Texas we celebrate that sometimes it tastes too good (or is just too fun and ridiculous) to worry about anything but enjoying a tasty treat.

This year, the Big Tex Choice Awards will bestow the honor of “Best Taste” and “Most Creative” to the lucky winners from eight current finalists that have recently been chosen out of 34 semifinalists.

D Magazine lists the following lucky finalists: Deep Fried Bacon Burger Dog Sliders On A Stick, Down Home Chicken Pot Pie Pocket (with mac ‘n cheese dip), Fried Jell-O, Deep Fried Pulled Pork “Funyun” Dings, State Fair Cookie Fries, Southern Fried Chicken & Dumplin’s, Caribbean Pineapple Korn-A-Copia and Injectable Great Balls of BBQ.

Perhaps the most notable is the Pineapple Korn-A-Copia which somehow made the cut without having any fried elements!

On August 28th, we’ll find out who wins the Big Tex Choice Awards, but we all know that the real winners are the people who get to have a blast chowing down at the State Fair of Texas.
