Texas News Anchor Bit By Copperhead
ABC 13‘s Art Rascon was walking barefoot out to his car at his home on Monday morning when he felt an awful shooting pain in his left foot. He told his news station that he was “jumping around, thinking, ‘What the heck was that?'” Rascon figured out shortly that he was bitten by a copperhead.
Luckily, his 18-year-old son was there to tend to his foot and then find the snake which had squirmed under the car. It appeared to be a smaller copperhead, probably making it much more easy to miss when walking around in one’s front yard.
Since Rascon started feeling dizzy, they took him to Memorial Hermann. His blood pressure was monitored along with the swelling on his foot. Rascon tweeted a photo that explained if the swelling went past a certain point, he would be given anti-venom. He was released from the hospital that night without needing the dose.

According to Live Science, copperheads bite more people than any other snake in the United States, but their venom isn’t terribly potent and is normally not fatal to humans. Their bites are painful though, and they tend to strike out more often than other snakes and don’t give any warning signs that they’re about to attack. Anyone who’s bitten should seek medical attention.
