People Are Already Upset About New Holiday Starbucks Cup
Only a couple of days after Halloween, Starbucks released a green cup which customers assumed was the new version of the famous “holiday cup.” Ironically, even though the new design is called “unity,” it has already upset some customers.
People have taken to social media to express their upset over the design and color. Traditionally, the holiday cups are red, and many people don’t “get” the artwork and think it’s strange and not aesthetically pleasing.
Thoroughly confused by the @Starbucks green cups…bring back my red-cup holiday cheer! #TeamRedCup

It seems like it might all be a bit of a misunderstanding.
Huffington Post writes that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz described the design in a press release. Schultz said, “The green cup and the design represent the connections Starbucks has as a community with its partners (employees) and customers. During a divisive time in our country, Starbucks wanted to create a symbol of unity as a reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other.” Incredibly, it was all drawn in one continuos line!
Also, the green “unity” cups are actually one of two holiday cup designs this year. Fox 11 reports that the coveted red cup is on its way in a couple of weeks. Hopefully customers will enjoy the new design now that they know the traditional red cup is coming soon.
