Would You Give Communal City Living a Try?

By  |

WeLive NYC offers studios and up to four-bedroom apartments that include a communal bar, laundry room, and fully equipped kitchen. Those who live in the space cook dinner for one other, go to exercise classes on the roof together and start their nights out at the bar downstairs with their neighbors. Even the laundry room encourages togetherness with a pool table, table tennis, and video games.

CNN Money covered the unique living situation as a look at what communal living could be like for interested millennials. When moving to the big city, it can be nice to have a community built-in as well as furniture provided in an open-concept apartment.

The WeLive website says, “WeLive is a new way of living built upon community, flexibility, and a fundamental belief that we are only as good as the people we surround ourselves with.” Visitors/residents can stay for days, months or years, but since it’s located in the pricey Financial District of New York City, it won’t be a frugal stay.

Prices for one night range from $300 – $600, and for monthly stays, the cost of a private bedroom starts around $1900 and $3050 for a private studio. This idea of communal city living could spread to Texas in the future.
