In an interview with the school press, Texas A&M President Michael K. Young noted, “It is gratifying to know so many Aggies are choosing to participate in Study Abroad programs because it is our job as a university to provide transformational learning experiences and prepare our students for a global society. These programs allow us to further our mission, far beyond our borders, to educate, serve, discover and innovate.”

Support for all Aggies that are engaged in international study is provided by Texas A&M’s Study Abroad Programs Office. “We provide 24/7 support for students while they are overseas. Approximately 180 faculty work with our office to prepare for taking students abroad. We appreciate the support and collaboration from across the university, which is reflected in the increase in the number of Aggies who are taking advantage of these opportunities,” says Texas A&M’s Study Abroad Director Jane Flaherty.

In a combination ranking of both private and public institutions, Texas A&M ranked number 2 to New York University – a private institution ranking first. International education opportunities are available for all Aggies from freshmen through Ph.D., in large groups or as individual programs. They can also be in short sessions such as a week, or long such as a school year, with the most popular destinations for Aggies being such places as Italy, Spain, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. With the Texas A&M Soltis Center for Research & Education located in Costa Rica, you can imagine the most popular destination for study abroad outside of Europe! Studying, internships, research, service-learning, and volunteer programs are all supported by Texas A&M, making it a great place to grow and develop, both here and abroad.
