This Man Made a Successful Business Out of Standing in Line
“We wait for your wants!” the website for Same Ole Line Dudes reads. Founded by Robert Samuel after he sold a couple of spots in line for the iPhone 5 release, the Same Ole Line Dudes has become a highly sought-after and praised small business in New York City.
In a video produced by Elite Daily, Samuel explains that he manages a team of around 20-30 employees who will happily stand in line for high-demand items like new gaming systems, Hamilton tickets and even cookie dough from a popular sweets shop.
Pricing runs $25 for the first hour and $10 for every 30 additional minutes with a minimum of two hours. A full 24-hours costs $485, but for the people who want special tickets or technology without spending a day waiting, the service is priceless. Many tourists use line holders so they can experience the city while someone else waits in line for them for a Broadway show or a cronut.
Being a gregarious extrovert, Samuel easily makes friends in line to pass the time, and he makes sure his employees also let the people around them in line know that someone will be taking their spot at the last minute who paid for the Same Ole Line Dudes service. When it comes to waiting, he smiles and says, “I don’t have a problem with it, I have the patience of Job.”
