Even Hearts Are Bigger in Texas: Stinnett Man Comforts Cow That Lost Its Calf

By Spring Sault | May 19, 2017

Benjamin Tipps of Stinnett, Texas, laid down in the field next to this momma cow on Mother’s Day (May 14) to console her after she lost her calf. Kayla Tipps (Benjamin’s wife) advised NBC affiliate KCBD that after a long and hard labor, her calf passed away and Benjamin felt it was the right thing to do.

Following time with their family in celebration of Mother’s Day, they decided to go and comfort the cow. Benjamin was moved to lay down and hold her, as she was saying goodbye to her baby.

A social media post about their moment was shared throughout the state of Texas over this past week and has generated a lot of positive comments. The post read, “What a great heart this man has. This momma cow lost her baby yesterday and Benjamin laid with her and petted her to try and comfort her. Such a sweet yet heartbreaking picture.”

It’s understandable why he felt the need to reach out to the momma bovine. In a quote from Inside Edition, his wife noted, “She was crushed — just devastated, and she was tired from the labor. She laid down, and Ben laid down and was kind of massaging her and comforting her.” Benjamin Tipps has proven that even hearts are bigger in Texas.
