A practical joke, creatively designed and executed by a Waxahachie woman, has recently gone viral causing the woman’s mother, Kathryn Hooper, some fits of laughter and mild embarrassment. Kathryn started to notice that family members in familiar photos were starting to look strikingly like the family’s Chihuahua, Dixie.

Texas Woman Pulls Joke Swapping Family Photos with Pictures of Dog

Buzzfeed recently reported that the 21-year-old Texan’s practical joke is an internet sensation. Replacing family photos with pictures of Dixie, Marissa Hooper told The Dodo that she came up with the idea together with her older sister when they were looking at the pictures displayed around the family home. Wondering if their parents would notice if they were ever moved or altered, they saw an opportunity for some family fun.

Marissa then proceeded to replace two of the prized family pictures with recreations that she made with the photogenic dog, Dixie. The 7-year-old Chihuahua first sat in on her sister’s kindergarten picture and then played the main role in one recreated of Marissa’s grandmother. It took roughly two weeks before Kathryn Hooper took notice. The very moment it happened company had come by the family home and Kathryn “knew immediately it had to be one of us playing a joke on her,” Marissa explained.

But it wasn’t until Marissa replaced her own graduation picture with one of Dixie in a graduation cap that her mom sent a text saying, “Stop doing that with my pictures!” Posting the text exchange on her Twitter account last week, Marissa responded to her mom, “I know you laughed.”
Since then, the Tweet has been shared thousands of times. What was especially hilarious to the Texas prankster was the two-week period it took for her mom to notice finally. “She runs a tight ship when it comes to keeping the house clean, and that means she obviously handled these pictures in the frames multiple times when she dusted and didn’t notice!” Marissa told The Dodo. In the meantime, the rest of the online world has had a good laugh, and Dixie has stolen the hearts of many admirers even starting her own Instagram account!
