Why Is This Completely Silent Song Climbing the iTunes Charts?

Since new cars no longer have CD players, everyone is slowly converting to using digital devices to play music. But once you plug in your phone or iPod to listen to tunes, your car might automatically start playing the first song you have stored in iTunes in alphabetical order. It can be jarring, annoying, and maybe even embarrassing if your first song is a guilty pleasure that you don’t want your passenger to know you have stored on your phone.

Luckily, Samir Mezrahi figured out a way to cheat the iTunes alphabetical curse by creating a silent song called “A a a a a Very Good Song.” ABC 13 writes that it’s simply 10 minutes of silence. Last week, it was at number 128 on iTunes’ Top Songs chart, and now, it’s jumped up all the way to number 64!

People are very willing to spend a dollar on the silent track, and many people have even written five-star reviews for it on iTunes. “Now, whenever I plug my phone into someone’s car ‘Anonymous’ by Three Days Grace doesn’t just start playing. 10/10 would recommend,” Brisingrletta wrote. While Chickennu99ets lamented, “I can’t believe I didn’t think of this…imagine the money he’s making off this.”
