Man Comes Across a Baby in a Parking Lot in Galveston

By  |

KGNS reports that Galveston resident Stephen Ward was in for the shock of his life when he went to go get fried chicken at Church’s on Monday night. While walking through the neighboring church parking lot, Ward saw what he believed to be an abandoned car seat. When he approached the seat, he realized that a child was sitting inside, appearing to be completely alone and confused.

But Chron.com writes that this was not a case of a purposefully abandoned child. Ward found a baby who was stolen along with a car outside of a laundromat in the 3000 block of Broadway Street in Galveston around 7:20 p.m. The child’s parents were unloading their car to take laundry inside when someone jumped into the vehicle and took off with the baby inside.

“I couldn’t believe it when I found a baby in a parking lot in the middle of the night like that,” Ward told Chron.com. It was fortunate that he found the child. Police had been searching the area, but they were not able to locate the stolen vehicle. As of now, the car and the thief have not been found, but most importantly, the baby was returned safe and sound to their parents.
