After accidentally baking her family’s Elf on the Shelf, Brittany Mease of Wylie, Texas has gone viral throughout the internet. That’s right, that spooky-looking doll who supposedly reports to Santa Claus on just exactly who is being naughty and who is being nice met his match when Mease melted “Elfis” in the oven (by accident) until his head popped off.
Posting the grim details to Facebook (including photos), it was clear that Mease had a charred and melted mess on her hands when five-year-old Elfis met his fate. In the meantime, hiding the poor little dude from her children has been a hard-core holiday hassle. “Ya’ll know I can’t stand doing Elf on the Shelf but I suck it up every year and do it to see those precious smiles on my beautiful children’s faces,” Mease wrote on Facebook. So, for 2017, she worked out a plan to produce Elfis with a bandaged limb along with a note that explained he broke his leg when he tripped on some toys that her kids had left out. Over the next two weeks, Elfis was officially laid-up.
Although her kids waited patiently for 14 days, they began to ask questions when Elfis still didn’t move, so while their backs were turned, Mease hid Elfis in the oven to hopefully cool the question period down. But, on December 18, her son had asked for some leftover pasta, and after turning the oven on to heat things up, she realized poor Elfis had been roasted. “I preheated the oven and started cleaning the kitchen. About 4 minutes later I started to smell something REALLY funky and that’s when all hell broke loose and I broke my son’s heart,” she wrote on social media. On the flip side, her daughter laughed at the incident and Mease chalks it up to her being “glad the elf is gone because now he can’t tell on her.”
