Asleep at the Wheel is a Texas institution. They took the torch from Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys and created a jazzy blend of Texas swing that has endured for more than three decades.
In this classic video from the archives, Asleep At the Wheel takes the stage at Austin City Limits in 1992 perform “You Don’t Know Me,” a jazzy song first made popular by Eddie Arnold in the ’50s.
It’s a slow burner that showcases lead singer Ray Benson’s smooth vocal style and skillful jazz guitar. Also, be on the lookout for the lead by Cindy Cashdollar , one of the best female steel guitar players in the world.
