90-Year-Old Woman is Skipping Chemo to Follow Her Heart This Way Instead
When 90-year-old Norma was diagnosed with cancer, she decided to take a different road than the often dark road of chemo treatment, quite literally.
Upon receiving the news at the doctor’s office, “a tiny woman at 101 pounds and under five-feet tall, an exhausted Norma…said, ‘I’m 90 years old, I’m hitting the road.'” And hit the road is exactly what she has done in the past six months as her family has taken her across the United States in an RV, traveling to and from National Parks and the coasts.
From a “Native American ceremony, traveling to 12,000-ft above sea level in the Rocky Mountains and to below seal level in New Orleans,” Norma is seeing the world from a perspective that we all should adapt ourselves. She has ridden a hot air balloon in Florida and celebrates her friends’ birthdays while on the road.
So how does Norma feel after six months of the trip of a lifetime? Well, “she is thriving! Signs of cancer have reduced and she is no pain.” In addition to this remarkable journey, she stays positive and is constantly reflecting on those that she has loved in her lifetime, including her husband Leo of 67 years who is no longer with us.
Congratulations, Norma! You are an exceptional example to all of us, and truly are living the meaning of making every day count!
