North Texas Ravaged by 5 Tornadoes in 24 Hours

On Wednesday, March 9, the National Weather Service confirmed five total tornadoes that ravaged North Texas from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

In the 24-hour period from Monday night to Tuesday night, Fox 4 reported that the National Weather Service announced that several homes and buildings were destroyed or damaged. In The Colony specifically, an EF-0 tornado ran through Tuesday morning. Four families will not be able to return home because their houses were demolished.

Near the Benbrook Marina, it was also reported that a separate EF-0 tornado with up to 85 mph winds tore apart the area as it “ripped apart the dry dock area and pushed boats on top of each other…Part of the dock that had just been rebuilt was also destroyed.”

These two EF-0s were added to the three EF-1s that struck Stephenville, Tolar, and Cool during late Monday evening into Tuesday morning.

As summer approaches, it’s time to start paying close attention to the weather again. If you are in a zone at risk for a tornado, seek shelter immediately in either the lowest level of the structure or a sturdy hallway with no windows or doors.
