It will be another year before Adventure Pointe opens its doors, but local cardiologist turned amusement park founder Harvey Slusky is thrilled to break ground on the main building of his ambitious project. ABC 13 writes that Slusky’s father created the local Playland Park in the 1940s, predating AstroWorld, and he hopes to recreate some of the wholesome fun his father founded.

The news writes that the site of the new theme park is on a “25-acre lot off of Interstate 45 near the Tanger Outlet Mall and Lago Mar, a planned community currently under construction.” While working on the land itself began back in 2015, the construction of the main building of Adventure Pointe just received the green light to move ahead. It will be surrounded by games lining a boardwalk, a venue for live entertainment, train tracks for a small train, a year-round ice skating rink and, of course, rides.

The Adventure Pointe Facebook page says that the railroad track will cover a mile, weaving throughout the park. They even uploaded a video of Slusky himself driving a forklift carrying part of the equipment, obviously very excited by the possibilities of the future amusement park.
