Viral internet items rarely disappoint. Such is the case with Alfie the alpaca. The internet loves him. He’s cute, and he leads an exciting life… which could be another reason his popularity is off the charts. Alpacas are similar to llamas, but they’re just a bit smaller in size. That’s not to say they can’t have huge attitude and be a little “extra” at times. But Alfie is absolutely adorable. Jeff and Sophie are Alfie’s parents, and they post to his Instagram account to keep his fans in the loop about life with an alpaca. They made a home for him in September 2018. His “mother” Sophie said that Jeff (Alfie’s “dad”) fell in love with him at first sight. And the rest is history, as they say.

After getting him settled into their home, the couple decided they would take Alfie on some adventures to enjoy life and live it up. They’ve since found that he enjoys the park, the beach, and play time.

Since establishing Alfie’s Instagram account, he’s amassed a following of more than 230K. Many of whom simply adore the adventures he gets to go on. Like any true foodie, he shares pics of the new restaurants he visits. As any social influencer knows, you need to show yourself having a good time with your friends… of which Alfie has many! Alpacas need play dates, because they’re social animals. They’re known to become depressed if they’re left alone too long—and wouldn’t you?

Even though Alfie is super cute, alpacas are not simply something you choose to take home without ensuring you can properly care for them. Texas has plenty of animals in a variety of shelters (dogs, cats, and a number of other species that simply need effective T.L.C.), and they can make great pets. Leave the social media masterminding to Alfie, and maybe admire alpacas from afar.
