When Hurricane Harvey hit, the group of volunteers known as the Cajun Navy were quick to respond. They jumped in small boats and helped to evacuate Houstonians from their homes. Now, KHOU writes that Houstonians have an opportunity to give back to the Cajun Navy if they’re able to. Last week, the Cajun Navy tweeted, “Many have reached out offering to help or asking what we need.. so we put together an Amazon wishlist.”

As “a band of mostly former law enforcement officers and firefighters from the Louisiana area,” the Cajun Navy needs items that will continue to help their volunteers respond successfully to disasters like Harvey. On their Amazon wishlist, they have items like lifejackets, gear bags, rain jackets, wireless electronics, and megaphones at a range of price points.

When KHOU 11 News posted about the wishlist to their Facebook page, readers were quick to comment with praise. “I ordered stuff from the list last night. They were amazing to Houstonians,” Stacy Sample wrote. “Helped me and my husband…great group!!!” Patricia Nowak echoed.

On Twitter, a few people asked how they could e-gift cards instead. The Cajun Navy responded by saying to send them to [email protected] Every bit counts!
