On Burnet Road in Austin, close to Koenig, a new thrift store recently opened its doors to Austinites who love to shop and support a good cause. Austin Pets Alive! Thrift will benefit the incredible life-saving programs that Austin Pets Alive! brings to the city. The volunteer-run store, which was once a pawn shop, will have decor and kitchen items, pet toys, and of course, tons of cool clothes donated by trendy Austinites.

Austin Culture Map quotes the executive director of Austin Pets Alive! Dr. Ellen Jefferson as saying, “The reason we are able to be the shelter of last resort for so many animals is in large part because of our resourcefulness — we innovate on behalf of our pets, and we’re so fortunate to exist in a city that deeply cares about its pet community.”

Even though the store has only been open for a short while, a couple of extremely positive Yelp reviews have already popped up. “Picked up a pretty dapper straw Panama hat for $3. Have anything you are not wearing in your closet? Donate it and imagine the sweet puppy eyes looking up at you,” Michael B. writes. (Cat people adjust accordingly with precious kitten eyes.)
