It’s been war in the streets here in the Hill Country ever since that February 19 article where Matthew Sedacca declared Austin was the champion of breakfast tacos. Now, we have reached a peace agreement: a breakfast taco summit.

On March 8, weeks after Austin Eater’s article stating that Austin was the capital of the breakfast tacos, the two cities of Austin and San Antonio finally reached a peace agreement. The breakfast taco summit will be hold on Thursday, March 10 in room 619 at the Hilton Austin Downtown.

The reason? As of the advisory sent by Mayor Adler of Austin, per the Austin American-Statesman, “Because these hostilities are threatening breakfast’s status as the most important meal of the day.”

There is hope to negotiate a taco treaty that will fuel both city’s tourism rates. It’s also a fairly convenient time for this summit, considering it’s at the start of SXSW, held in Austin. The breakfast taco summit is held by both Mayors Adler and Taylor in order to end the “toll that the Great Breakfast Taco War of 2016 has taken on their communities.”

No matter how it turns out, it’s nice to see Austin and San Antonio uniting over one of their shared loves, instead of battling over it.
