Love is in the air. Actually, it is less than a week away, so you better get busy. The pressure is on.  The competition is fierce. The reservations are already booked and if they aren’t then you are out of luck! The annual “Show your Love some serious Love” is upon us, and it’s going to cost you. According to WalletHub, the average Valentine will spend about $137 to show just how much they love somebody. Ranked 12th in the nation (and 1st in Texas) as the “Best Place for Valentine’s Day,” Austin is a great place to be if you want to truly spoil your Valentine this year. There were quite a few things that went into this decision by WalletHub. Consequently, a variety of factors were in involved in this ranking like budget options, activities, weather, and gifts.  So, here are just a few last minute ideas to show your true love some real love.

The options for a truly wonderful Valentine’s Day in Austin are endless. Of course, you can do the tried and true route with flowers and a box of chocolates or the adorable stuffed teddy bear. BORING! How about a lobster dinner for two courtesy of Central Market? They say all you need to do is add candlelight. All you will need to do is preorder it or pick it up in the store. Sounds like an easy and possibly a least expensive way out for sure. Perhaps it is much more romantic than a dinner at a crowded restaurant with 100 of your closest strangers, right? However, as a result of this romantic stay at home dinner, the question remains, who has to do the dishes?

If the weather is nice, and you have a 50/50 chance that it will be, you can always plan a picnic by moonlight. With the full moon on February 11, it might be worth it to spread the blanket, sip some champagne and watch the moon rise in Zilker Park. Another romantic picnic idea, plan a small hike up to the top of Mt. Bonnell, carrying your picnic basket and blanket, of course. Set up the blanket, pour the wine, and catch an amazing sunset with a 360 view of downtown Austin and the surrounding area. What better way to spend Valentine’s Day!

And finally, if you haven’t met that someone special yet, there are still fun things for you to do as well. What better way to celebrate than with friends. Grab the squad and head over to the Screw Valentine’s Party and play along with other like-minded singles. This club in the Domain is sure to have the fun with its upstairs open balcony and great drink specials.
