Baylor Professor Goes Above and Beyond for a Mother in Class

By  |

Katy Humphreys is doing the near impossible: raising a family, sustaining a happy marriage, and getting her college degree at Baylor University. However, when her babysitter recently bailed on her to watch over her 1-month old baby, she had to take her daughter to class.

A former Marine, Humphreys knew that her only option was to attend class with adorable Millie in tow. “So I was thinking,” she told KWTX“well, I hope I can balance both.” Millie, however, wasn’t exactly content in her baby carrier during class.

She soon became fussy, which is when Dr. Darryn Willoughby, the professor, stepped in to create a moment that reassures our father in humanity.

“Within the first five minutes, Millie got fussy. So I just went over, picked her up, carried her back, and went right back to lecturing without missing a beat,” he told KWTX.

The photos and video of his true act of kindness have gone viral on the Internet and make us all proud to be Texans. He carried Millie around the class for the remaining 55 minutes like a true professional.

“I didn’t want [Katy] to feel uncomfortable [about having Millie in class] because there was nothing to feel uncomfortable about,” he mentioned. This kind of attitude is truly heartwarming and astounding.
