The Texas State Society of Washington, D.C. held an inaugural ball called “Black Tie and Boots” on Thursday night, and the headlining act was none other than The Beach Boys. The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C., hosted the event which started at 7 p.m. Tickets were available for around $300.

MySA.com writes that The Beach Boys were joined by “other entertainers including Texas dance groups including the Kilgore College Rangerettes, the Lake Highlands High School Wranglers, and the Texas State University Strutters.”

The Austin-American Statesman said Washington D.C. had hosted the event ten times and that turnout was around 11,000 people. As the name of the event suggests, the “dress code” includes an outfit paired with cowboy boots. According to the news, “Texas Gov. Greg Abbott promised he’d attend with a pair of black crocodile boots and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he’d wear black ostrich leg boots.” Abbott went on to say that the event was bigger “than the Republican State Convention so bring your A-game.”

If you’re curious about the huge event, photos of the ball can be seen below with more tagged here on Instagram.
