Bones Found in a Garden at a Texas Children’s Hospital

While digging at a construction site on Thursday in the garden of the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, workers came across something rather unsettling. They discovered human bones.

The hospital’s location in downtown San Antonio was once a Catholic cemetery back in the 1800s, so it’s being speculated that the bones were left when the cemetery location was moved when the hospital was built. The bones reportedly appear very old.

Archaeologists will take a look a the bones to provide more information and completely confirm if they are in fact human bones. For now, News4SA released the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio’s response to the disturbing findings. They wrote:

“Today, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio (CH of SA) discovered remains during Gardens excavation. This excavation, which was halted immediately, is in preparation for the continued transformation of CH of SA.

We immediately alerted the authorities and are working closely with them to determine next steps, and we will work with additional authorities as needed to assure a proper evaluation and to identify a plan to move forward with the excavation.

As a Catholic, faith based organization, we want to take every effort to be exceedingly respectful and follow the proper protocol.”
