By  |

The search for a missing father and son in Denton County, Texas has resulted in the discovery of the 2-year-old boy. However, his father is still missing. The search team found the toddler wandering along the bank of Denton Creek one day after he and his dad went missing. The two went missing on Monday afternoon (March 6) while fishing in Denton Creek above Lake Grapevine. Search teams coordinated together from multiple law enforcement agencies and scoured the area until 2 a.m. today (Tuesday, March 7) when they located the pair’s boat on shore, but found no one in it.

Tracy Shields, Trophy Club Police Department’s spokeswoman, identified that the toddler approached members of the search party at approximately 8:30 a.m. today, cold, hungry and scared, but appeared to be in good condition despite also having some scratches. In her interview with FOX 4 News, she added, “The fact that he’s in such great shape is really a miracle.”

The 2-year-old has been taken to Cook Children’s Hospital for evaluation and will be reunited with his mom while search crews continue looking for the boy’s 38-year-old father. Based on the boat’s location and items that have been found in the water, Shields has noted that investigators believe that an accident took place and that this was the same area in which the boy was located. Investigators hope that the boy will be able to tell them a bit about the incident after being reunited with his mother, but in the meantime, Shields advised, “As we deal with 2-year-olds, they don’t often say much. But after what he went through all night, we’re not surprised that his only concern is getting something to drink right now.”
