Featured on the TourTexasVideo YouTube channel, the city of Brownwood, in the Texas Hill Country, is defined as “a sportsman’s paradise.” It’s also “…home to legendary barbeque, Coach Gordon Wood, Lake Brownwood, trophy hunting, historic sites, and live entertainment.” Any visit to this Hill Country gem is a surefire winner!

Brownwood has the distinction of being just 22 short miles north of the geographic center of the state of Texas! That makes it easy for folks to get to reach the town for family events such as weddings, reunions, and holiday get-togethers. It also makes meeting up with friends an easy thing to organize. Brownwood is located on the Way Out Wineries Trail, the Texas Sports Trail, and the Great Wildlife Trail. The city is also home to 20 parks, four museums, a variety of hunting and fishing options, and three golf courses.

This video also highlights Lake Brownwood State Park, which is a wonderful nature feature of the area, along with the Brown County Museum, and the Martin & Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum (which has an amazing mini train that kids love, not to mention a number of interactive exhibits). It showcases, as well, the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions, named for the Texas high school football coach with the most recorded wins. The city is also home to the Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center, which, if you’re headed there in the summer, is a wonderful place for families to cool off and try some new things. Speaking of summer, the annual Hartland Rod Run (featuring 400+ hot rods) and the Brownwood Reunion Celebration (a three-day festival) are two wonderful summer events friends and family would love. These are among the 50 or so annual events that Brownwood welcomes people to attend, right here in the Texas Hill Country and close to the heart of the Lone Star State itself!
